Digital Marketing, Social Media summit in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad News: Five students from Ahmedabad joined at Indian institute of Technology Gandhingar on monday. In the Gujarat number of Nine students has entered into IIT Gandhingar.

"I wanted to be at IIT Bombay but with my rank I couldn't make it. My parents are very happy that I got into an IIT closer to home", said Jainidhi Maurya whose did his twelfth from H B Kapadia High school and is from Memnagar.

Sangita Shah had quit her job at AMC so that she can help her son study well and get in to an IIT. With her son Jugal now into IITGN she is joyous beyond measure. "I wanted my son to be near me and my wish is fulfilled", said Shah. She added happily, "Why shouldn't our sons study in IIT, aapdu Gujarat, aapdu amdavad, aapdu campus".

Bhumil Acharya shifted from Vastrapur to Chandkheda after he got admission in IITGN. "I live with my mother so it doesn't make much of a difference if it's Vastrapur or Chandkheda", said Acharya who got an AIR of 553 in JEE in SC category.

110 doctoral students participate in IIM-A research meet

Adopting hygienic ways and nutrition in the food that they make could help the roadside vendors boost its sales up to 20% more. This is what one of the research proposals of a student of Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IIM-B), Swagato Chatterjee pointed out.

Chatterjee is one of the 110 doctoral students who have come to the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A) to participate in the '4th IIM-A Annual Doctoral Colloquium,' which began at IIM-A on Monday. The colloquium builds a platform for the researchers to meet and talk about their works to understand the latest trends and issues in the area of research.

The future of the Tata buses in AMTS and BRTS fleet that were to hit Ahmedabad streets by October last year hangs by a thread. In at least two meeting held by the Ahmedabad Janmarg Limited (AJL) over the last few months, the AJL board has proposed to reject the order of 94 odd new JNNURM buses for frequent complaints of oil leakage, air compressor leakage, brake problems, rusting body parts and frequent breakdowns of existing operational buses.

The board has even floated a proposal for imposition of a fine of Rs 12,500 per bus on the company. The decision on how to go ahead with the company would be taken within a fortnight.

SIT serves summons on two police officers

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the Ishrat Jahan encounter case has served summons on two police officers.

SIT sources said they have, over the last three months, collected “important evidences” against encounter specialist Tarun Barot, now an Assistant Commissioner of Police (Special Operations Group) in Ahmedabad, and Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) Superintendent G L Singhal.

Singhal, was the ACP (Crime) at the time of the encounter.

New software to help Ahmedabad RTOs identify unskilled drivers

Come March, acquiring a driving licence from the Regional Transport Office (RTO) will be a far tougher task than it is today. The RTO plans to implement a new sensor track for issuance of driving licences, as well as software for single window clearance.

An announcement to this effect was made by JP Gupta, commissioner of state transport, at the opening ceremony of the traffic awareness week.

The sensor tracks will keep a close watch on the people attempting to form the number '8' pattern while driving. "In case they make mistakes or falter, it will be easily seen with the help of the sensor track," Gupta said at the programme.

Ahmedabad police sigh in relief as New Year revelry stays peaceful

You may call the city police liberal or the city's residents disciplined, depending on how you see it, but it appears that New Year's eve didn't turn out a chaotic event after all.

The cops nabbed just two people from the city's posh localities, while 21 were caught in drunken condition from the eastern part of the city. No major accidents, no speeding cars and no major brawls - the night of December 31 proved to be a rather well-managed one.

Not only did the city police manage to control party-goers and prevent them from disturbing peace, they also kept a close watch on all the important junctions of the city.
