An Ahmedabad-based jeweller, who allegedly duped a jeweller in Mumbai of ornaments really worth Rs1 crore, was arrested on Friday. Two Bangalore jewellers are absconding.
The police mentioned the complainant, whose identify the police did not wish to reveal, fulfilled just one of your absconding accused and Mitesh Shah, 35, in February 2011.
Shah visited the complainant’s business in April and selected ornaments well worth Rs1 crore and explained he would return to collect them. On a monthly basis later, Shah returned and reported a jeweller in Bangalore wanted the ornaments urgently. “Shah built the complainant talk into a human being in Bangalore around the mobile phone. Convinced the two had been reliable, the complainant handed around the ornaments to Shah, who promised to return in eight days,” claimed an officer.
When after 10 days the complainant contacted Shah, he built reasons and stopped answering phone calls. The complainant then fell sick and was in hospital for three months. After he was discharged, he approached the police. “Shah is arrested for cheating. We’re attempting to trace the two many others,” explained Avinash Sonawane, senior inspector.
