Even as Gujarat has been demanding allocation of gas from domestic sources, the state is supposed to consume nearly a third of the total gas consumption in the country, experts said at a seminar held in the industry Ahmedabad on Friday.
In the “Symposium on national energy security” on the campus of Nirma University in Ahmedabad, industry players discussed the need for liquified natural gas (LNG) and compressed natural gas (CNG) infrastructure in Gujarat.
“Gujarat consumes one third of the gas consumed in the country with only 5 percent of its population. Gas demand and supplies never meet the increased demand than supply. Therefore, we need more LNG terminals and CNG infrastructure in the state, “said Ravindra Agarwal maintained commercial GM, Gujarat State Petronet Ltd (GSPL). Solving the collection, L Mansingh, former President, Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) the price and the sale of subsidized fuel in the country was not correct. “Now-a-day sales of diesel cars is increasing, although they are expensive than gasoline vehicles. It is because of the tendency for a higher class to use the cheaper fuel. Therefore we need a system so that the benefits of the grant shall be limited to target class, “said Mansingh.
According to experts, the share of natural gas in the energy mix of the country is almost 20 percent. Commenting on the availability of energy in India, experts have said that about 30 percent of the total population has no access to energy trading, while 33 per cent, even if they do not use energy.
