Finally, The BJP, Cong Agreed To Legalize Illegal Construction

The State Assembly on Monday unanimously approved the Regulation of development of Gujarat unauthorized Bill of 2011, paving the way for the legalization of more than 15 lakh illegal construction in the state.

The bill was cleared during the budget session of the Assembly in March too, but it was returned by the Governor Dr Kamla with a dozen proposals. Sources said that almost five proposals have been inculcated in the amended bill, passed Monday. The good news is that Congress opposition welcomed the changes in the law. If early indications are anything to go by, the governor can now clear the bill.

Filing of the amended bill to the Assembly, said Minister of Urban Development Nitin Patel at March 28, 2011, the day the original plan was adopted by the Assembly had set a deadline for illegal structures to be covered by the Act.
