Emami supported Amri left the race to acquire Ahmedabad-based Sterling Hospitals, which is majority owned by private equity major Actis. Amri Hospitals decided against increasing its bid of Rs 640 crore for a group of international health care topped the auction.
AMRI Calcutta was one of three companies shortlisted after Actis has appointed JM Financial to sell the chain from the hospital, sources said on the subject.
A network hospital abroad was in confrontation with Sterling to acquire six hospitals across Gujarat in a transaction valued at approximately Rs 700 crore. A string up Amri Hospital authentic fell to the offer.
Amri was the only Indian hospital group back into the game after another left the game with respect to valuation concerns. Sterling has over 1000 beds, including underdevelopment, but most of them fall into Tier-II cities, as many bidders said to be reflected in lower valuations. A real Estate Company Development Group and FMCG major Emami Shrachi Amri holds together, which operates hospitals in Kolkata, but intends to expand the acquisition date national.
