The Gujarat High Court acquitted 12 people accused of murdering the BJP senior leader and former interior minister, Haren Pandya on Monday. He also accused the CBI of mishandling the investigation.
“It is clear that the IWC has been botched. Their studies have left much to be desired, “the court said.”The officer’s investigation should be held accountable for failures that led to an enormous waste of public resources and money,” said the Court . CBI to Special leave petition (SLP) to the Supreme Court.
Mr Pandya was shot five times in Ahmedabad in 2003 when he was in his car near Garden law. In total, 19 people were charged with planning and execution of the assassination. Four of them have never been traced.
The survey was carried out in Gujarat Police Crime Branch and then delivered to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Agency said that Mr. Pandya was killed to avenge communal riots in 2002, where 1,200 people were killed, the majority Muslims.
In 2007, the court found 12 people accused of murdering 15 Ahmedabad Mr. Pandya to 12 offenders were sentenced to life imprisonment and then appealed to the Supreme Court. Potatoes, sugar beets evaluation committee had waived a March 15 other accused. Achiaswala Anas, who was then 23 years, was not among them. Small Time Merchant Ahmedabad Achiaswala also received a life sentence and has now been released.
His brother, Owais said: “For over nine years we have been … but today we are pleased that in this state there is no justice for Muslims.”
Mr. Pandya served as minister when BJP Keshubhai Patel was the Chief Minister. The rivalry between Mr. Patel with the new Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s party, played in public and acrimonious. Mr Pandya was sidelined when Mr Modi became chief minister in October 2001. The family of the murdered politician has always believed he was a political murder, and suggested that Mr Modi commitment.
