Schools of engineering and pharmacy are faced with empty classrooms this year. The Admission Committee for Professional Development Courses (ACPC) said that after the recently completed redesign, 3599 places in the pharmacy and engineering are 2733 vacancies.

However, the story is different from the government and Pharmacy Colleges of Engineering in which all seats are taken. In all the fields are self-financed with.

Officials said that last year, most sought after branches in engineering colleges were IT, computer engineering and electronics and communication (EC) engineering. This year, these branches seem to have lost the support of the 611 seats in IT, Computer Science 738 and 409 seats were empty seats in the EC.

This year, the most popular branches were civil, mechanical and electrical engineering. In these industries, not just a seat became vacant in government or self-financed institutions.

ACPC officials said there are 15 SFI colleges with 100 seats has created a student.

Authorities said students have been admitted to a redesign to pay and file their registration before 04 August. If these students do not pay fees by the stipulated date, are not allowed to participate in the redesign process more.

ACPC officials sent a recommendation to the Department of Education for students who have cleared the additional evidence of HSC (science) to access the vacancies in the pharmacy and vocational courses in engineering. No fewer than 7,000 students recently cleared after passing HSC exams for additional students who had not one or two subjects. Of these 2,700 students received 45 per cent mark over what the requirements for admission to vocational training. Last year, the state government had given the green light to a similar proposal to allow students additional tests cleared for access to professional studies.
