Proposed railway lines underground in the city will soon be published. Metro Express Link to Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad (MEGA) has sought an area of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) to set up bulletin boards on which will educate the public about the project.
It was not until last week that the high power committee comprising the Chief Secretary AK Joti and six secretaries and officials of MEGA, made a full recognition of Phase I of the metro project. Officials compared the original plans drawn by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) in 2005-06 for the Urban Development Authority and presented problems in real time.
The Committee discussed issues related to land acquisition and new properties that are already open in the plots that have been proposed for the metro rail stations in DMRC report.
Torrent Power officials were at the service before the power of urban development to deal with MEGA.
“Among other things, the most important issues were the harmonization of the metro rail project and the new features that have come up with plots of land proposed to open an underground train stations,” said a senior official of the Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (Auda).
Sources added that the Ashram Road Tube stations, ports of entry to the city of Ahmedabad to Gandhinagar, which Indira Bridge, and direct access to the airport were some of the issues addressed by the officials.
Map of the second phase were also discussed.
“MEGA has tried to put up with 13 seats in these discs Ashram Road. These inform commuters traveling between Paldi circle and RTO circle. It would require sites to display their boards,” says senior AMC.
