Kites – A Special place in Amdavadis’ hearts

It is a fascinating spectacle – the sky filled with dragons of all shapes and colors. While the kites have always had a special place in the heart of Amdavadis’, here is a man who made a profession to kite.

Ujal Shah, 38, says that 365 days a year, which creates, develops and focuses only on comets.

“But so far I have not sold my kites as I do for myself,” he said.

Come August 4 and Shah is all set to participate in the International Kite Festival in Indonesia. He will also participate in festivals in four other countries.

What sets this apart from the deer manufacturer is the fact that he did all his kites with Gandhi and the Indian peoples own khadi paper.

Shah feels make paper dragons khadi give his signature style Amdavad creations and make his city to the world.

Apart from Indonesia, it has also been invited to four other countries – China, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Brunei.

“South Asia has a very interesting tradition of kite do not see the rest of the world except some countries. And this tradition has supported the art of kite-making on the world stage,” said Shah.

Shah is a graduate of the College of Fine Arts in NC, but he learned the nuances to make a kite from his father, who was also fond of this colorful high-altitude setting.

He will continue to pursue his passion to this day, and plays a key role as the president of the Foundation of Ahmedabad Kite.

“I never really planned a second career for me,” said kite maker who specializes in making miniature kites. For the holidays, he made almost 500 kites of combat, including dragons, tiny kites.

For the first time Shah made a Japanese-style kites which he reveals in Malaysia.

With members of the team, which plans to launch 101 kites on a single dori.

“I declare, dragons flying in India and abroad to showcase my collection kite exhibitions in different countries,” says the talented kite maker. Earlier this year, Shah attended the Rose Festival will be held in Chandigarh where he collected a lot of appreciation for their work.
