U.S. carmaker Ford is likely to make a statement on the creation of its own production facility secondcar Sananda Taluka near here, official sources said on Tuesday.
Ford India proposed site is likely to be the side of the Tata Nano plant in Sanand. The company currently has a manufacturing plant in Chennai.
“Ford is in talks with the government to establish its car factory in second place with an investment of nearly Rs 5000 crores. It was decided by 400 acres of land in Sanand for installation,” said government officials in a state of PTI.
District Collector of Ahmedabad is currently in earmarking 400 acres of land Sananda, about 40 km from here, Ford India, said.
In response to a question about the announcement of the production plant in Gujarat, India, Ford said in a statement: “As part of our plan to introduce eight new products in the mid-decade, Ford is expanding its capacity of facilities in Tamil Nadu as well as to explore other options. ”
In August last year, Ford announced the launch of eight new models in India in 2015 in an attempt to exploit the emerging national car market.
The introduction of new vehicles will be part of the business plan to bring more products to its global portfolio and other markets in Asia-Pacific and Africa.
The company has already invested $ 500 million to expand production capacity of two lakh units per year at its plant in Chennai. It also has an engine factory with an annual production capacity of 2.5 lakh units.
