Unlike weightlifting and athletics, cricket in India was never threatened in reality the scourge of doping, but the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is not willing to take risks.
For the young talented cricketers, inadvertently or not doping, the BCCI organised an educative seminar on the subject at Motera stadium on Sunday. Nearly 100 cricketers, U-16, U-19 and high-level players have participated in a seminar, which was anchored to Dr. Abhijit Salvi from Mumbai.
Salvi explained the complexities of the testing process and also spoke at length about the substances prohibited in sport. “Most players really have no idea what drugs are banned for doping. They have little prior knowledge about drugs and their effects. If someone said a particular drug is good for your muscle mass, get along without realizing that it is forbidden by the rules, “Salvi said DNA.
The seminar was part of the campaign, approved by the BCCI. It was attended by support staff, the Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA), six doctors who work with GCA, and carers.
Head coach of Gujarat Ranji team, Vijay Patel, agreed that young players need guidance and support of this phenomenon lies in the support staff. “Yes, support staff plays the role of father. It is our duty to take care of the boys and keep them informed about medicine and drugs. ”
Patel said the list of the drugs were made available to the players and, in turn, inform your family doctor and trainers. “We know that even Ayurvedic tonic, Chyavanprash, a small amount of prohibited substances in sport. We have provided players with a list of drugs and banned substances, so they can show their doctors,” in said.
The young players of Gujarat brought back home. “It is alarming to read in the newspapers that the most important sports in India are testing positive each day. The seminar helped to allay my fears,” said Bhargav Merai, which was recently judged the best Under-19 cricket in the country by the BCCI.
He added that the players are now more aware of the medications they take. “We were told not to take Ayurvedic medicine and homeopathy opportunities for banned substances in them are quite high. In the future we intend to show us a list of family doctors,” said Mera.
