If you thought that the prohibition of tobacco will be strictly controlled in the city – it’s time for a reality check. Results of a study by the Institute for Global Tobacco Control at Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health, Baltimore, USA reveals that 30% of the positions found in the house reported the sale of cigarettes and 20% of the seats set on tobacco advertising.
The survey was conducted by Mitali Chakrabarty Taleem Research Foundation, Ahmedabad and Mira Aghi of the Advocacy Forum for Tobacco Control in Delhi. Ahmedabad is one of the centers selected for the study of the World – 24 major cities in Africa, America, Asia and Eastern Europe. Overall, 231 social sites including bars, cafes and nightclubs have been studied.
In Ahmedabad, was about 10 social sites studied. “India is among the tobacco epidemic horrible,” said Aghi. Participants believe the results suggest that additional efforts are needed to enforce policies against smoking in social venues. It can also restrict sales of cigarettes over the counter to an important new objective to reduce smoking initiation and promote interest in quitting.
An official notice from Taleem suggest that they have received few responses from the sites to conduct the study, but only 25% of sites agreed to discuss the study in principle. Participants could certainly be because tobacco sales and advertising may be greater in systems that did not participate.
Previously, studies have shown that young adults remain extremely vulnerable to the influence of the marketing of snuff. Place advertisements in the popular social networking site allows snuff industry to link their brands with fun experiments and establishing credibility and relevance of its products and young adults.
