National Institute of Design (NID) has suspended three of its second-year students for allegedly ragging freshers a year, an official said here NID.
The incident was reported about three to four days after the start of the new academic year NIDs. The new session starts on 13 June NIDs in an official said.
“Based on complaints about the parents by email a few freshers to join the campus this year, alleged ragging by senior students, the institute has suspended three second year students,” NID Registrar Vijaya Deshmukh said.
“Three students, two courses in basic research, while the other is a graduate student,” he said.
The complaint, the parents claimed that their offices were forced to become the salt of the senior students’ at night and was asked to perform certain activities, NID sources, including anonymity, said.
“The anti-ragging committee of the department swung into action and with the help of photographs, identified the students against whom complaints were filed,” said Deshmukh.
“Now it’s done a thorough investigation and the case is likely to submit its report within a week,” she added.
