The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) will be around RS20 lakh to the State Bank of India’s logo on all tax bills to be distributed to the owners of the five areas of the city. Thus, the CMA will Re1 thearound bills for 17 lakh, it will distribute.
AMC has already begun to collect property tax for the year 2011-12.
According to the Deputy Municipal Commissioner Arjava Shah, AMC to share about 16.5 lakh bills residential and commercial properties.
“Of those bills, 12 lakh will be given to residential property owners, while 4.5 lakh will be given to commercial property owners,” said Shah.
The distribution of invoices will be completed before September 30. AMC plans to raise Rs464 crore through property taxes for the year. In 2010, AMC had raised Rs436 crore through property taxes. “So far we have collected RS120 RS116 crore crore as advance tax including,” said Shah.
For the current year, New West Zone was not included in the collection of property taxes, as the survey of all existing assets has just been completed.
According to the report, 20,000 new properties are added to the previous survey four years ago.
In 2013, AMC will conduct the review of five areas to update property records.
