World’s largest and oldest secular fraternal organisations

Its roots in the 16th century, Freemasonry is one of the world’s oldest and largest secular fraternal organizations. it is often described as a secret society, the Masons say wrong.

“We are not a secret society activity and no secret. There was a time when Freemasonry was an exclusive society, and when something is closed, is likely to arouse suspicion. But this is not now,” Dr. Balarama Biswakumar, Grand Master, Grand Lodge of India, told reporters.

He said that many Grand Lodges feel the need to open to remove the myth among the people of us is a secret society.

“The 372 flats operating throughout the country are trying to dispel myths, and we think that if you go little by little, the perception of people towards us is changing,” he said.

He said that doctors, judges, lawyers, businessmen, bureaucrats and prominent figures in other fields of members of the Masonic Society.

In Gujarat, the Masons will have four – in Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara and Rajkot – about 300 members. The total number of members of the country is about 18,000.
