The fame of the 200-year-old tree

A 200 year old Baobab tree is ready to go for the first time since it was planted by the British. Gujarat College, which has a British heritage has decided to help the tree which is now under threat – it is in the process of raising Bus Rapid Transit System (BRT) corridor. There are only two of this species of exotic trees in the city. The other is at Victoria Garden, Lal Darwaza.

The twist in the fate of the baobab tree that is outside Gujarat College campus came with express bus service `s high Ellisbridge corridor linking. The fame of the tree of 200 years, however, came to his rescue. A contractor who was assigned to the project was the runner proved to be a supporter of green causes. He suggested that a university professor in the imminent danger facing the baobab.

The university officials told TOI on Tuesday that could help save the tree at all costs. AS Rathod, director of the Gujarat High School, said: “We have written letters to the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, the Ministry of Forestry to move this tree even asked the contractor not to cut the tree .. even approach the school authorities Chief Minister Narendra Modi for this cause. “He added that the tree they want to be transferred to University facilities.

Manoj Patel, a professor of biology, Gujarat College, said. “Two years ago, when the road near the college in Gujarat were expanded, this tree with another 150-odd trees were cut and then we had an appeal against the CM and saved the trees,” said Patel.

The corridor of 1 km long high between Gujarat College, Ellisbridge Church Road and see more than 50 trees are cut, including the Baobab tree. However, the damage has been done in the trunk of the tree. It seems that efforts have been made to cut. Officials said these trees have an average lifespan of more than 2,500 years.

    I have made some plantation near my house which has been there since six years now suddenly my neighbour suddenly have started harrassing me for trees and have destroyed them, is this legal and harrassing me mentally. Please help me
