Around 1,000 families living in and around Odiya Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad will gather to celebrate Utkal Divas (April 1), the day Odish based on a cultural program mega Gandhinagar on Friday. The program will be inaugurated by the Minister of Gujarat for the health and tourism, Jaynarayan Vyas.
This year, the Utkal Divas program is jointly organized by Gandhinagar Odiya Samaj, a group of families Odiya stay in Gandhinagar, and Orissa Socio-Cultural Association (OSCA), Ahmedabad. The program will be held at Ranga Manch in the sector 22 in the state capital.
According to a press release, people stay in places like Naroda, Surat and Mehsana will also join the celebration. The organizers have also invited many Gujarati families and other supporters.
The four-hour program, which starts at 18:30 includes various cultural events highlight views Odisho and Gujarat. It ‘also sound and light shows, special Odiya events and Odiya Gujarati culture and cuisine. Odiya group of artists are especially invited to perform in Odisho program.
People who participate in this program include Hitenbhai Barot, executive director of Creative Infocity Ltd, Gandhinagar, and top Hong Kong Chief Secretary for Water Resources, Narmada Water supply and Kalpasar Department, Gujarat.
Utkal Divas celebration is a day sacred and important for people to Odish. The struggle Odish visionary leaders to form a separate province because of the language was made April 1, 1936 and Odish became the first state based on language in the country.
