Ahmedabad ranks third in Lifestyle Diseases

The incidence of lifestyle diseases and company employees. Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (Assocham) report says that about 52 percent of workers in companies affected lifestyle diseases; in particular, eating habits and 24 percent suffer from chronic diseases, while the 18 percent had an acute aliment.

Only six percent of the average company employees said that there is not suffering from a disease, according to the report in which a total of 800 respondents participated in 150 companies in the age group 20-70 years.

The majority of the 52 per cent employees who are afflicted with lifestyle diseases are white collar executives who eat more often outside. About 55 percent of those surveyed in the fall of the age group 20-29 years, followed by 30-39 years (26 percent), 40-49 years (16 percent), 50-59 years (2 percent) and 60-69 years (one percent). Although the report focused on employees of companies of 18 major sectors, the percentage of maximum contribution of employees in the IT and ITeS sector (17 per cent of respondents were in this sector).

The report indicates that the timing of increasingly demanding and high stress leads to sleep disorders in individual life. Sleep loss has significant consequences, including daytime fatigue, physical discomfort, psychological stress, impaired performance, low pain threshold and absenteeism.

It is interesting to note that employees, despite suffering from a disease (such as flu, fever, backache, etc.) consider themselves healthy as they are able to slip in the workplace without compromising productivity .
