The second Sabarmati Marathon in Ahmedabad will be organised on December 18, 2011. The decision to organize the marathon for second time was taken after the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) authorities moved an application to the Association of International Marathon and Distance Races for an affiliation.
In addition, the AMC has decided not to partner with Ahmedabad Runners Club. Rather the municipal body will fly solo this time. The club was the co-partner for the first marathon organised on December 26, 2010.
An AMC press release said that it had sent an application to get an affiliation with the Association of International Marathon and Distances Races -an association of more than 300 race organisations located in over 90 countries.
The international association also publishes a quarterly magazine, which contains a directory and calendar of member racing bodies.
The first Sabarmati Marathon was organised as a part of the 600th birthday day of the city. The AMC plans to get a large number of participants in this year’s run in December.
The proposal to host the marathon and get the international affiliation was cleared by the standing committee of the civic body. The officials said that in the year 2010, about 18,000 people took part in the Sabarmati Marathon Ahmedabad, thus making it the second largest marathon in the country. Source by Times Of India

I had participated in the Sabarmati Marathon 2010, December. And it is July 21st 2011 and still i have not received the certificate nor getting any reply from marathon@arcim.in or lihas@arcim.in after once i get reply that they are still in process of preparing certificates after that, i am not getting any reply. Very bad management at Sabarmati Marathon.
