Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi spent Rs 24.87 lakh during the last two years on air travel. On Monday, the state government in a written reply to a query from Kapadwanj MLA Manibhai Patel said that between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2010 Modi travelled by air on 114 occasions.
During the same period, the state incurred an expenditure of Rs 1.51 crore for maintenance of the state-owned chopper, its fuel expenses and paying for salaries of the staff. The amount also included fees paid for airport and helipad usage. These facts were revealed by the state government to a query from Chaklasi MLA Shankar Vaghela.
The state government told the state assembly that it spent Rs 36.08 crore on advertisement campaigns preceding various state-sponsored celebrations and government functions. In reply to Mahudha MLA Natwarsinh Thakore, the government said that in the financial year 2009-10 it incurred Rs 10.92 crore expenditure while another sum of Rs 25.16 crore was spent in 2010-11 (till January 31, 2011).
Senior government officials, refusing to be quoted, revealed the expenses included those for Vibrant Gujarat, Kutch Utsav, International Kite Festival, among others. Source by Times Of India
