A night safari at Pirana, a planetarium and two new amusement parks have been planned in the city this year. These projects were the impromptu new additions to the urban development department’s itinerary for promoting Ahmedabad as an entertainment destination. Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), after having got the initial nod from the department, will identify developers to prepare design plans for these projects.
Sources said that while the Pirana night safari has already been put on the fast track, there are plans of making a new bal vatika or children’s park. Two amusements parks have already been planned, one of which would come up in the Naranpura area while AMC is negotiating for a five-acre plot from the Ahmedabad collectorate for another amusement park in the city. A new planetarium has also been planned. Apart from these projects, the city will soon see an Essel world kids entertainment park for which a team of AMC officials had visited Mumbai to inspect the area and the requirement to set up the park. “Apart from the helium balloon at Kankaria, a toy train, and a ropeway across the Sabarmati riverfront are being planned by AMC,” added the AMC official.
