Established in 1936, HL College of Commerce (HLCC) was one of the city’s earliest academic institutions. This year, the college completes 75 years of existence, and has a number of events, of various kinds, lined up on the occasion. From seminars and lectures to interactive sessions and sports, a lot is on the cards for the college’s alumni over the coming weekend, which is when the college’s platinum jubilee will be celebrated.
Speaking to DNA on the occasion, professor GA Pathak, director of HL Centre for Professional Education (HLCPE) and the chairman of the two-day meet, said that the college is looking forward to a grand celebration.
“HLCC’s inception took place in the pre-independence period. Over the years, it has evolved as a premier centre for education in commerce. This year, as we complete 75 years of existence, the HLCC alumni association decided to have a celebration befitting the college’s status. We will have several events, spread out over the two days,” he said.
Pathak has been with HLCC for nearly 51 years now. From being a student in 1960, to retiring as the principal a few years back, his has been a very long association with the college. As of today, he is heading their centre for professional education — and the bond continues to grow.
Listing out the events taking place over the two days, Pathak said, “January 8 is packed with events, which will begin in the morning and go on till late in the night. January 9 is dedicated to sports. The event will be inaugurated in the morning of January 8 by Saurabh Patel, state minister for power, energy and petrochemicals among others. He, incidentally, is also an alumnus of HLCC.”
“Following this, Rooshi Kumar Pandya, a leader who conducts corporate workshops, will deliver the keynote address, followed by Prafull Anubhai’s speech,” he continued.
The day will then witness a panel discussion on the capital market, lectures on ‘Rural development – role of the individual citizen’ and ‘Corporate social irresponsibility’, followed again by a panel discussion on ‘Combating environmental degradation’ and CSR, and a signature campaign. The day will commence with ‘Down memory lane’, where alumni will interact with one another and remember their days in college as students, followed by a screening of short films, by Shiladitya Bohra, who had organised the Ahmedabad International Film Festival. Finally, celebrations of the platinum jubilee year will commence with alumni Jaykar Bhojak and Devang Patel.
“The HLCC alumni association has organised a ‘Health Walk’ promoting health awareness among youth on January 9. This will be followed by an ‘Old cricketers’ meet’, where nearly 180 cricketers still alive will come together for a friendly match and discussion on the sport. HLCC has produced 236 cricketers,” Pathak said. Source by DnaIndia

You actually make it seem so easy with your presentation but I find this topic to be really something that I think I would never understand. It seems too complex and very broad for me. I am looking forward for your next post, I’ll try to get the hang of it!
My brother suggested I might like this website. He was totally right. This post truly made my day. You can not imagine simply how much time I had spent for this information! Thanks!
