Robbers carry out loot in moving Howrah Express

About Rs 6,500 was looted from passengers in the general coach of a moving Ahmedabad-Howrah Express 2833 down by four robbers near Surat railway station here on Monday morning.

The loot was carried out soon after the Howrah-bound train left Surat railway station and was on its way to Udhna railway station, a suburb of the city. Before the train reached Udhna railway station, the robbers in red shirts threatened travellers in the general coach and asked them to hand over their valuables and cash.

The robbers looted Rs 4,000 from complainant Raj Kumar Kamal Kishore and Rs 2,500 from others in the compartment. Soon after carrying out the loot, the robbers got down the moving train and vanished into the residential and industrial localities near the railway track.

Police have launched a search operation to trace the robbers. There is also no information about whether the robbers were armed or not.

“We are trying to understand how exactly the loot was carried out as none of the victims are injured, which was surprising. We have launched a search operation for the accused who were wearing jackets and red shirts,” said police inspector, Surat railway station, L B Joshi. Source by Times of India
