Flights hit by sudden storm and rainfall

Thursday was a good day for Delhiites as the maximum temperature stayed below 40 degrees Celsius, thanks to a stormy weather and light rainfall.
However, the rain showers and squall also affected flight movement at the Delhi airport, leading to flight delays and diversions. The flights affected by bad weather included the one carrying Vice-President Hamid Ansari. Eight domestic and two international flights were diverted to Chandigarh, Jaipur, Lucknow and Ahmedabad due to strong tail wind.

“We recorded 0.6 mm of rain at the Palam observatory while trace rainfall was recorded at various other places,” said a Met official.
But the humidity that oscillated between 66 percent and 42 percent during the day troubled many.
“Though the temperature was not very high, the humidity made the day unbearable,” said Karan Dogra, a student.
