Ahmedabad: YMCA Club, Ahmedabad has organised a series of events that commenced on December 19 and will go on till the end of this month, to mark Christmas celebrations.
The festivities kicked off with a ‘Carol Singing’ competition which featured more than 25 musical groups from various schools, colleges and churches competing. The winners were awarded a trophy along with other special prizes.
“The response this time round was very good. Last year we had only 20 groups. We got overwhelming response from the 2000-strong audience,” said Shyam Mehta, CEO of the club.
The event was followed by ‘Rock Parva’, a rock show which was organised on Sunday.
The concert a dazzling event with live performances by the three finalists, along with the popular band ‘Agni’. The members of Agni were also judges for the show which attracted a crowd of 5,000 young people.
An inter-college singing and dance competition featuring 30 city colleges, will be held on December 21 and 22. This will be hosted by JG College of Commerce and will be designed for the youth. YMCA has also planned a New Year’s Eve carnival which will include an evening of dine, dance and fashion. A live DJ performance along with dances by renowned troupes and fashion sequences by professional models will be the highlight of the party.
