Indian Railways is a government owned railway company, which owns and operates most of India’s rail transport. The Indian railways is the world’s largest commercial employer, with more than 1.5 million employees across its branches in India.

The Indian railways have installed rail tracks across the length and breadth of the country, which covers more than 7000 railway stations over a complete route length of  63,327 kms. It owns more than 200,000 freight trains, around 50,000 coaches and 8,000 locomotives.

Indian railways transports over 20 million passengers and has one of the largest and busiest rail networks in the world, more than 2 million tons of freight is transported daily.
