Ahmedabad mein kamaal ka dhamaal karenge: Bappi

AHMEDABAD: He is the undisputed Disco King'. Bollywood's Gold Man', the bejewelled Bappi Lahiri who gave a new accent to Hindi film songs, will rock Ahmedabad on Sunday evening at the Times Ahmedabad festival.

Excited to be back in the city after a long time, Bappi told TOI over the phone, "I am ready to play some great numbers with my son and daughter. I have also prepared some songs based on Gujarati folk and will sing a typical Gujarati folk song from the film Guru."

With these, city folks will also get a taste of Bappi da's foot-tapping numbers from his greatest Disco hits. Bappi was the most popular music director of the 80s when he composed music for films like Disco Dancer, which have left a lasting imprint in the minds of everyone of that era.

Bappi is famous for his constant desire to reinvent himself and face challenges to keep up with the rapidly changing preferences of current generations. " I will also sing my new songs like Bambai Nagaria," he said.

Bappi also composed music for Gujarati films like Mehul Kumar's Janam Janam na saathi. "I love to compose music in Gujarati, it is such a sweet language. Even now I am ready to compose in Gujarati," he says.

"Dekhana hum Ahmedabad mein kamal ka dhamal karenge," says the peppy music maker. Not to miss Bappi da's love for Gujarati food. "Whenever I come to Ahmedabad, I make it a point to visit Gujarati traditional restaurants. Its language and food are sweet," he says.
