Ahmedabad: A 19-year-old boy allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at his residence in the Shahpur Darwaza area of the city on Thursday. The police suspect the incident was a fallout of a tiff between the deceased, Sudama Yadav, and his father, Ramilal, earlier in the morning.
According to the details of the case, the Yadavs belong to Uttar Pradesh and had been staying at Kamonia Ni Chali near Shahpur Darwaza.
Madhavpura Inspector K M Joshi said: “Ramilal worked as a gardener, while Sudhama, a school drop-out, was jobless.”
The police said there used to be frequent arguments in the house because of Sudhma’s alleged reluctance for studying further or taking up some job. There ensued an altercation between the two in the morning after which Ramilal left for work.
He returned home around 8 pm and found the main door of the house locked from inside, said Joshi.
He added: “Ramilal gathered some neighbours and broke open the door. They saw Sudhama hanging from a hook on the ceiling.”
The police have registered a complaint of accidental death and further investigations are on.
Meanwhile, in another complaint of accidental death reported in the city on Friday, a resident of Bapunagar, Vaishali Darji (26), died after her saree accidentally caught fire.
The incident occurred late on Thursday when Vaishali was cooking in her kitchen. “Her synthetic saree caught fire and engulfed her completely,” the police said.
Her family members rushed her to a local hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.
Bapunagar Inspector L P Gandhe said: “We have registered a complaint of accidental death. Nothing concrete can be said at this moment. Investigations are underway.”
