AHMEDABAD: The former Gujarat Minister of State for Women’s Welfare, Mayaben Kodnani, has been further remanded to four-day custody of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) in connection with her alleged involvement in the Naroda-Patiya massacre of 2002.
Ms. Kodnani was produced in the Ahmedabad metropolitan court on Sunday. She, along with Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Jaideep Patel, was in police remand for seven days in connection with the Naroda Gaam massacre. While Mr. Patel, allegedly involved only in the Naroda Gaam episode, was sent to judicial custody on Saturday, the SIT transferred Ms. Kodnani for the Naroda-Patiya case and sought further remand to question her about the sources of weapons and inflammatory material allegedly used in burning alive and killing the members of the minority community on February 28, 2002.
