BL reported that Steel Authority of India Ltd has initiated moves for providing leadership for the development of the domestic manufacturing industries.

One such attempt is to institutionalize the SAIL HR Excellence Awards in collaboration with IIM, Ahmedabad, for path breaking contributions in the field of People Management Processes for the Indian manufacturing industries.

SAIL Excellence Awards are in recognition of the outstanding work done by any company in the past 5 years to effectively manage its talent through innovative and bcost effective talent enhancing practices that have contributed to the intellectual capital or other forms of capital formation of the organization or of society at large.

As per report, this includes HR strategy, competency mapping, recruitment, induction, integration, performance management, training, organization learning and development, team building, value assimilation, aligning new generation employees to business priorities, CSR, health, safety and environment, use of information technology in all functions of HR and the like. The last date for submission of entries for SAIL HR Excellence Award is February 23rd 2009.
