108 gets pat on back from NRG

AHMEDABAD: An Australia-based NRG was impressed when the 108 ambulance staff not only rescued him and his family from an accident site but also returned Rs 30 lakh and important papers lying in the car which was hit.

On January 6, Sashikant Davani and his family, comprising wife, son and daughter were returning to Ahmedabad from Himmatnagar when their Indica car collided with a truck near Tajpur. A passer-by identified as Rameshbhai' called the 108 ambulance which reached within minutes.

The 108 staffers, Dinesh Raval and Ajay Patel, found that car driver was badly injured and his left hand fractured. The remaining three were not so serious. With help of other people, they pulled out the victim and took him to JK hospital.

Meanwhile Davani's wife called 108 staff and said there was a bag in the car containing Rs 30 lakh and some passport related documents.

The victims were handed over to the hospital authorities and their money and papers were also given to the doctor and then to the victims' relatives. Davani, who belongs to Vadodara and is based in Australia, was here on a vacation.
