AHMEDABAD: Satyam Computer Services ' proposed IT park in Gandhinagar is likely to be abandoned following the massive Rs 8,000 crore fraud in the company, state state government officials said.
Satyam's B Ramalinga Raju had announced to set up one IT park in Gandhinagar in December 2006 in the IT summit organised by the state.
Following the announcement, the state government had alloted 26 acre land adjacent to TCS project in Gandhinagar, said a senior official in the state IT department.
"A few months ago, Satyam had conveyed to the IT department to convert the IT park into an SEZ in Gandhinagar," the official said, adding that subsequently, there was no communication from the company.
However, following the disclosure of the fraud committed by fudging the accounts, the company is in trouble and may not go ahead with the proposed park, the official added.
"So far we have not received any communication from the Satyam management regarding the future of the proposed park but we are very doubtful of the project looking at the mess the company finds itself in," he said.
"It is most likely to be abandoned now," said another senior official in the government.
