Korean varsity mulls tie-up with IIM Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad: The Korea University Business School is considering offering a dual-degree and students exchange programme in collaboration with the EQUIS-accredited, Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A).

The EQUIS (European Quality Improvement System) is an international accreditation body for international business schools. The fundamental objective of EQUIS is to raise the quality of management education worldwide.

IIM Ahmedabad is India’s first EQUIS-accredited institute.

Dean of the Korea University Business School, Hasung Jang, said, “Since IIM Ahmedabad is an EQUIS certified institute, we are in talks with the institute for some kind of partnership. In our talks, we are contemplating options like dual degree programs or students exchange programs.”

The Korea B-school is also considering supporting joint case studies and research work between the two institutes. “There have been some success stories of Korean companies in India. We are also talking about conducting joint case studies or research work,” added Jang.

“If companies in Asian countries have to overcome the current financial meltdown, they will have to strictly adhere to corporate governance in terms of transparency and accountability,” he further said.

The Korean B-school Dean came to IIM Ahmedabad to participate in a lecture on ‘Development of Corporate Governance in Asia’.

The lecture was a part of the IIMA-SAGE Endowment Lectures, a series of annual lectures by distinguished personalities from the world of business and economics, organized jointly by IIM Ahmedabad and SAGE Publications.
