AHMEDABAD: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said despite global recession , Gujarat “continues to go ahead on the path of progress.”
“When companies have put their expansion plans on hold, banks have stopped lending, recession is engulfing the industry, Gujarat continues to attract investments and all the projects are on fast track,” Modi said after laying foundation of two SEZs being developed by city-based Dishman group in Bavla taluka here.
He said peace is the identity of the state and industrial peace has attracted investments in Gujarat as there is no unionism anywhere and industry can operate with freedom.
“There has not been a single day when factories and industrial units have remained shut in the state,” Modi said.
He added that like Tata’s Nano car project, other industries, which are facing troubles in other states, would come to Gujarat as it’s the “only” state that allows business and industry to operate independently.
Modi claimed that even the UPA at the Centre had advised other states to follow Gujarat model of SEZ for development.
On the SEZs, he said the two being developed by the Dishman group would become operational in 2010-2011 and it would create employment for 50,000 people.
