German car major Audi is set to drive into Ahmedabad. The Audi range is currently available in seven dealerships across the country: Delhi, Gurgaon, Chandigarh, Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore and Hyderabad. New facilities are being built in Ahmedabad, Ludhiana, Chennai and Kochi.
“The Ahmedabad store will open at SG Highway very soon. We expect to launch the store by the end of 2008,” said an official of Audi India. Audi India is on course to achieve top sales figures in 2008 in the country. In the first seven months of 2008, the firm’s India sales have increased 163% to 595 cars, from 226 units in the year ago period. In July, sales grew 525% in comparison to last year. The five models already on Indian roads are the Audi A8, Audi Q7, Audi A6, Audi A4 and Audi TT. The new Audi A4 sedan, launched in July 2008, also played a major part in achieving the record of delivering 125 cars to customers in July 2008, against 20 units in July 2007. The Mumbai-based Audi India commenced its business activities in 2007. “The latest sales figures show we have made progress to achieve ambitious goals,” said Benoit Tiers, MD, Audi India. “We will continue to focus on customer-oriented products for the Indian market.
