Thieves made merry during bandh

AHMEDABAD: When the city was under seige, the thieves made merry when they came with a truck and stole 50 aluminium plates worth Rs 1.5 lakh from an industrial unit near Ahmedabad-Vadodara expressway. Ramol police have registered a complaint on the theft.
According to Ramol police officials, Prahlad Patel, a resident of CTM, had visited his unit Techmech Engineers at Shiv Estate on Saturday morning to check out the condition of the building. He was shocked to see that two roofplates were missing. He then checked his building and found out that goods worth Rs 1.5 lakh were also missing. No cash was reported stolen.

“The plates were quite heavy. The plates are used in the industrial units in control panel. We believe that the theft has been conducted by some insider who knew the production and its market price in the market ouside the state. We believe they shifted the plates in a truck. Nobody was present when the theft was conducted as everybody was preoccupied with bandh news,” said a Ramol police officials.

Officials have released the numbers of the plates and its make with heavy engineering units in the nearby areas.
