Ahmedabad medical students call off strike

Ahmedabad, July 18 (IANS) Students of a medical college here and junior doctors in the hospital attached to it called off their strike Friday after the state government announced the setting up of a panel to look into the students’ complaints against the common entrance test (CET) to postgraduate courses.

For the past one week, students of the BJ Medical College here have been protesting against the CET proposed to be introduced by the state government from the next academic year.

The junior doctors’ association had also staged a two-day protest supporting the demands of the students.

The panel, to be headed by Mahuva legislator Kanubhai Kalsariya, has been asked to submit its report within three weeks.
