T’PURAM: The Dalit Employees’ Associations in the various centres of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) have united and formed the ‘Federation of All Department of Space SC/ST Employees Welfare Associations’ here on Sunday.

The new federation comprises SC/ST associations from Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre and Liquid Propulsion Systems Centres at Thiruvananthapuram, Mahendragiri and Bangalore, IISU-REPLACE, ISRO Head Quarters, ISRO Satellite Applications Centre, Bangalore, Satellite Applications Centre, Ahmedabad and Sathish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikotta.

Speaker K Radhakrishnan inaugurated the federation at a function organised by the ISRO Dalit Employees’ Association (IDEA).

National Commission for SC/ST’s Kerala state assistant director P Ramaswamy inaugurated a seminar on ‘Constitutional safeguards of SC/STs and challenges of SC/ST employees in ISRO’ held prior to the function.

The All-India Department of Space SC/ST Association’s Bangalore unit general secretary spoke on ‘Challenges of SC/ST employees in ISRO’.
