GCCI to continue its FOCUS with the help of other industries

Programmes like FOCUS have very great potential and they can revolutionize the country if they are expanded on a large scale.

Dr. Bakul Dholakia, Advisor, Adani Group of Companies said this while distributing certificates to 42 successful students on the conclusion of the first phase of FOCUS – Fraternity of Career Upgradation Scheme jointly organized by the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry and Adani Group of Companies in Ahmedabad today.

Dr. Dholakia said that FOCUS has increased the self-confidence of students and made them aware of their capacity. This programme will greatly help them in building up their personality and enhancing their capacity. He expressed his pleasure over the success of the pilot project.

On the completion of the first phase of the FOCUS, 42 successful students were given specific certificates jointly issued by the GCCI, Adani Group and Navgujarat College. The three top rankers Shivani Trivedi, Sarang Parikh and David Jose were offered appointment letters in Adani Group at today’s function.

Dr. Malay Mahadevia, Director [Projects], Adani Group of Companies spoke about the need to cover other sectors of economy in this programme. He expressed his confidence that those who had participated in FOCUS will benefit by increasing their employability in industries.

In her response a successful trainee Kshma Shah said that the training has increased our capacity and our enthusiasm. Shivani Trivedi, a trainee said that FOCUS has enhanced our knowledge. Shri Sanjeev Kothari of PMC Projects India Pvt. Ltd. and Principal M S Trivedi of Navgujarat College also spoke on the occasion.

Earlier in her welcome address the Chamber President Smt. Paruben Jaykrishna said that in this no cost project all the parties – industries and students have benefited. She said that the Chamber will continue its FOCUS programme with the help of other industries.

In the end, Shri Natvarlal Patel, Hon. Secretary of the Chamber proposed a vote of thanks.

FOCUS – Fraternity of Career Upgradation Scheme, a novel initiative of the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry ended today with the completion of training of 42 students of the NavGujarat Group of colleges of Ahmedabad.

FOCUS aims to be a link between college students desiring employment at the end of their study and industries in need of trained manpower according to their requirements.

In the first phase of FOCUS, 55 students were given intensive training of Infrastructure Management for one hour on three days in a week, alongwith their college education. The six month training included lectures of technical experts, case studies, group discussions and visit to several projects of airport, ports, jetties etc. at Mundra in Kutch district.

“FOCUS” is a successful initiative to help in resolving the problems of unemployment of youth and lack of requirements of skilled manpower in the industrial sector. If the scheme is expanded to provide employment oriented training to students with the cooperation of industries, it will increase employability of students.
