A city-based real estate developer has come up with a plan for an integrated complex consisting of a high-end shopping mall, a five-screen multiplex, luxurious bungalows and a three-star hotel in the eastern suburb of Vastral on the 200 feet Ring Road.
The foundation will be laid on Sunday and the project should be completed in the next eighteen months, said Kamlesh Gondalia, chairman and managing director of Takshashila Realties.
Relying heavily on the USPs of the old city on the east of Sabarmati, Gondalia said that even before the foundation laying, one third of the bungalows, Takshashila Habitat, had been booked.
However, he admitted that the new jantri norms might impact bookings. “But then we have to face it,” he said, adding that the emphasis is on understanding the psychology of the people living in eastern Ahmedabad, their likes and dislikes and comfort levels beside the affordability of the Rs 120 crore project.
Gondalia said the eastern part of Ahmedabad was not developed in accordance with its growth potential and its exploitation was possible only if they were able to cater to the requirement of the people living there. “It will bring a big change in the east,” he said, adding that the project would spread over 3.30 lakh square feet.
Pratik Bankar, director marketing, said that since the project was in the vicinity of 13 municipal corporation wards with a population of 12 lakh, it would be lapped up by locals because there was no such high end mall, multiplex, star hotel and a convention centre, prior to this.
