Freight rates up on hike in diesel, petrol prices

NEW DELHI: Freight rates for the nine metric tonne payload section rose between Rs 500-1000 in the local truck transport market here today on hike in petrol and diesel prices by the government.

Transporters said the announcement of hike in diesel and petrol prices by the government caused the rise in freight rates.

Delhi to Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata, Baroda and Surat freights moved up by Rs 1000 each at Rs 17,000, Rs 18,000, Rs 25,000, Rs 13,000 and Rs 14,000 per nine tonne respectively.

Rates to Ahmedabad, Kanpur, Ludhiana, Chandigarh and Indore went up by Rs 500 each at Rs 12,000, Rs 9,500, Rs 9,000, Rs 7,000 and Rs 12,500 per nine metric tonne respectively.

Patna freights also rose by Rs 1,000 at Rs 21,000 per nine metric tonne on higher trucks owners advices.
