Twenty five years, for many, is a long time. But, not if you have fond memories of the past, have treasured those wonderful moments spent with friends, of those days of learning and fun.
When 90 former students of IIM-Ahmedabad’s batch of 1983 gathered at the sprawling institute lawns on Friday — for their silver jubilee reunion — it was one steeped in nostalgia. Coming from big corporate houses, government service, the social sector and entrepreneurial initiatives, it was time to spot old friends and look ahead, as their family members too had a gala time. And, some of them have returned to the campus after 25 years.
Also at the function were IIM-A director Sameer Barua and then director Professor VS Vyas. Dean Jayant Verma and Professor Shailesh Gandhi, who are alumni of IIM-A of 1982 batch, also joined in the revelry. Professor S Manikutty, from the batch of 1983 and now a faculty member, said, “We know we are a special batch to the current director, since ours was the batch with whom he started his teaching career.”
After addressing the class of 1983, Barua took them all down memory lane as he brought out farewell cards that all of them had given him when they left the campus 25 years ago.
The alumni made a presentation, remembering their days with photographs from the past. The batch, which will be on the campus till Sunday, would have a case study session to refresh their classroom memories, a cricket match with the present PGP batch, a campfire and a talent night for the alumni and their family members.
