Gandhinagar, November 26 As directed by the Election Commission, the State government has transferred as many as 22 senior officers, with five of them assigned full-time election-related duty, at the district collectorates of Surat, Ahmedabad, Bhavnagar, Rajkot and Vadodara.
Sources in the office of the State Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) said on Monday that the EC had directed the government to shift these officers as most of them had completed over three years in their same posts and were serving in their respective home districts, which is not permitted under the Model Code of Conduct now in force in the State.
The five senior officers transferred and assigned poll-related works included deputy municipal commissioner (Vadodara) C R Kharsan, who has been shifted to Ahmedabad district collectorate as additional collector; the CEO of State municipal finance board J G Hingrajia, who has been asked to render election-related duty at Rajkot district collectorate, an official statement said.
Also, executive managing director of Alcock Ashdown Company (Bhavnagar) has been transferred to Surat as the district planning officer to assist Surat collector in poll-related work.
Chief executive authority of Gandhinagar Urban Development Authority (GUDA), P H Solanki, who has been shifted to Bhavnagar as the notified area officer in Alang, will render poll-related services at the district collectorate.
Director of district rural development agency (Ahmedabad), R B Barad has been appointed CEO of Vadodara Urban Development Authority (VUDA). He has also been assigned election-related work at the Vadodara collectorate.
