With saffron movement strongetst in Gujarat BJP councillor Bhaskar Bhatt picks colours for colony name boards that are controversial.

When he chose the colours green and saffron, they were objected by communities. Then he settled for innocuous blue but that wasn’t agreed to either.

After Bhaskar was elected from Saraspur constituency in Ahmedabad he wanted to make his mark with these colony name boards where he used was a dash of saffron.

Bhaskar said, ”I made the design and put it all over the city. Orange colour is the colour of god there is also green. EC felt it was a problem as orange is colour of BJP.”

Local newspapers reported that Muslim dominated areas were being marked by green coloured boards and the others in orange.

Dariyapur a resident said, ”I complained along with others. They were colouring us green to show that Muslims live here.”

The EC immediately ordered that both orange and green boards be replaced with blue ones, but this created fresh problems. The BJP has moved the Gujarat High Court asking why the Commission chose Blue knowing fully well that its Bahujan Samaj Party’s colour.

BSP explains this simply, R P Singh BSP Gujarat in-charge said, ”Blue is the colour of clear sky and that’s how we are. Offiicials are wishing for an establishment like ours.”

Electoral battles can get bizarre but the residents in this Muslim dominated area don’t care. They said that even if they have the same colour boards, they still feel different and marginalised in Ahmedabad.
