Ahmedabad, November 18 Ahead of the Assembly elections, the BJP is wedding technology and tradition to woo the voters.
Party campaign managers have not only hit cyber space, but also mobile networks — latest from their stable is hello tunes and caller tunes, mostly in traditional folk styles.

A number of jingles and promotional songs have already been composed and recorded by the convenor of the party’s cultural cell, Yogesh Gadvi, and his team for the caller tunes . The jingles have excerpts from Modi’s speech and small musical pieces composed by Gadvi and Ghanshyam Kavi. One such piece goes thus: Mard Modi tanni jeet chhe/ antarni amiraat/ Jitega Gujarat.”

“The CM himself has been monitoring this,” said Gadvi, adding that the jingles prepared by him were approved by Modi during the parliamentary board meeting.

He also said that while about 30 such jingles have already been prepared, a music CD called Vande Gujarat having songs eulogoising Modi have also been released about a month ago.

“I have also released another CD in Dayro style on Saturday,” said Gadvi, adding that the CDs are now being sent across districts. “The CD is targeted at the rural mass and we hope this will find acceptence in the villages.”

Dayro is popular in Saurashtra — a region that is fast emerging as a cause for concern for the party. “Since Gadvi himself is from the region, his compositions reflect the style,” said Yamal Vyas, party joint spokesperson.

Said Dr Shashiranjan Yadav, convenor of the BJP IT Cell, “I have a database of over 70,000 partymembers and we shall soon launch these tunes apart from the SMS campaign.”
