AHMEDABAD:
A teenaged girl was allegedly raped in Kagadiwad in Paldi area by a vegetable
vendor on Monday.
When the girl
was out to buy vegetables, the accused vendor Mahendra Solanki took her to his
uncle’s abandoned house on the pretext that her parents were there waiting for
her. Solanki stays in the same locality as the
girl’s.
The 17-year-old victim works
as a domestic help in the nearby society flats in Paldi, said
police.
After reaching the
place, the accused tied her hands with her own dupatta and repeatedly raped her
allegedly. She was also beaten up for protesting and was under captivation till
late night. The girl’s parents also alleged that Ellisbridge police station
officials refused to take the complaint late on Monday night.
“As it was raining heavily, we
thought she may have gone to her friend’s home. But, when we went to Ellisbridge
police station, no one ready to file missing person report for my daughter.”
The victim was tracked down by
a relative who heard the girl’s cries for help from the room which was just 200
metres away from girl’s home. They found the girl with her clothes dishevelled
and her hands tied above her head with bruises on her face. The girl’s father
said, “After we found our daughter, we rushed to the Ellisbridge police station
to file a complaint of rape. But officials on night duty were not ready to file
the complaint.”
“They told us
that asked us to leave saying that we should be relieved of atleast getting back
our daughter,” he alleged.
Finally, officials registered
the complaint on Tuesday but not before the intervention of a senior police
official.
The girl has been
sent for medical examination at Civil Hospital and are now investigating the
case.
