AHMEDABAD:
A company trading in ginger along with another dealing in textile products were
raided by the Income Tax officials on Thursday. The companies, said I-T
officials, were suspected of tax
evasion.
Officials of the
investigative wing of I-T, Ahmedabad, said that more than 125 officials were
part of the raids and searches were carried out in 27 different spots, offices
and residential premises of the owners and directors of the two
companies.
“Some unaccounted
cash and valuables were seized during the operation that continued till late in
the night. The exact scope of tax evasion and unaccounted wealth can be
ascertained only after physical verification of the seizure,” said I-T
officials.
According to the I-T
sleuths, eight premises of the ginger trading company in Jamalpur – that deals
in ginger procured from Bangalore and 19 premises of the Vatva-based textile
industry with offices in Mumbai and Delhi were
