Celebrating Raksha bandhan at the border |
A
team of contest winners and RJs celebrated Rakshabandhan with BSF
jawans.
For most of us,
public holidays and festivals offer an excuse to take a break and enjoy life.
But there are some for whom there’s no respite from work even on those
days, like our brave jawans.
On Rakshabandhan this year,
when brothers and sisters reaffirmed their bond of love all over India, we went
on a memorable journey to the Kutch border arranged by Radio Mirchi, where
winners of a contest celebrated brother’s day with these jawans.
The six winners from
Ahmedabad, Vadodara and Rajkot were chosen after a state-wide contest. At
Khavda, (a base camp of BSF militants near Gandhidham), the day began early
(6.30 am) for us and after breakfast, the celebrations began.
Countless rakhis were sent by
people from different cities of Gujarat. After the rakhi ceremony was over,
soldiers played dhol, danced and sang folk songs, and did mimicry to regale us.
We then moved on to the
India-Pakistan border, crossing the Rann of Kutch, and had a rakhi ceremony with
50 soldiers there. The day proved to be a memorable one for all the jawans, who
dwell in difficult conditions, as well as for us.

Many thanks for your time and energy to have decided to put these things together on this web site. Jack and i also very much valued your input through the articles in certain things. I understand that you have several demands in your schedule and so the fact that you took the maximum amount of time as you did to help people just like us by this article is also highly appreciated.
You really make it seem so easy with your presentation but I find this matter to be actually something which I think I would never understand. It seems too complicated and very broad for me. I am looking forward for your next post, I’ll try to get the hang of it!
